A quick air fryer recipe ready in just minutes!

This air fryer recipe calls for only a handful of ingredients and is ready in just minutes in the air fryer! It’s a perfect appetizer for gatherings or side for family dinners that we make on repeat in our house. My key tip in this recipe is to keep frozen sliced baguettes in the freezer! I buy these (usually discounted) at my grocery store’s bakery and they quickly thaw to use in recipes like this one.

Air-fried cheesy broccoli garlic toast is a toddler-approved, easy recipe that I hope you enjoy as much as we do!

INGREDIENTS

  • Baguette slices: French baguettes sliced into 1/4 inch pieces work really well in this recipe, but you can use other bakery breads like French bread, Ciabatta, or Italian. I like to buy fresh bakery bread from Sprouts that’s pre-packaged into small rounds (pictured here). I toss it right in the freezer and pull the bread, defrost at room temperature (takes little time), and make the recipe!

  • Butter: I use unsalted butter in this recipe, but salted butter would work just fine as well.

  • Garlic: This recipe calls for 1/2 tsp of minced garlic which is about 1-2 cloves. I keep a jar of minced garlic on-hand from Trader Joe’s (they sell these at most U.S. grocery stores) to easily add into recipes like this one! Depending on how garlic-y you like your garlic toast, you can certainly add more! It just needs to be minced finely.

  • Italian seasoning: Gives this recipe some great flavor through dried herbs! If you don’t have this seasoning on-hand, you can use a mix of dried oregano, dried parsley, salt, pepper.

  • Parmesan and mozzarella cheese: Personal preference, but I like to mix both cheeses onto the toasts! You can use one, or both here.

  • Sprinkle of grated broccoli: This one is totally optional but is fun to sprinkle under the cheese. I find that broccoli and cheese mix together really well, especially when the cheese melts on top AND it’s a fun way to get some veggies in!

    • To get broccoli "sprinkles" for this garlic bread, grate 5-6 broccoli florets using a box grater, with the fine side. Alternatively, you can 1) place cooked broccoli (steamed, roasted, etc.) in a food processor and pulse a few times until broccoli forms a rice-like texture or 2) buy frozen riced broccoli and sprinkle right onto the bread before air frying! No need to thaw packaged riced broccoli — it will quickly thaw and heat in the air fryer for this recipe.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat air fryer to 350F

  2. Melt butter or get to a super-softened room temperature

  3. Lay bread pieces out on air fryer basket, being careful not to over-crowd (you may need to do more than 1 batch of air frying depending on your basket size)

  4. Mix butter, garlic, and Italian seasoning in a small bowl. If using melted butter, melt the butter first, then add minced garlic and Italian seasoning and mix well. If using softened butter, you'll also mix with garlic and Italian seasoning in small bowl and the mixture will just be thicker.

  5. Spread butter garlic mixture onto bread (the side facing up). If using melted butter, use a spoon to drizzle about 1 tsp on each bread - do this slowly and the bread will soak in the melted butter. If using softened butter, use a butter knife to spread a thin layer onto each piece of bread.

  6. Sprinkle grated broccoli onto each piece (optional - see note on how to easily make grated broccoli at home)

  7. Sprinkle each piece of bread with parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese

  8. Air fry for 4-5 minutes, until cheese is melty (air fryer times will vary - see note below!)

NOTES

  • Store in fridge in sealed container for 3-4 days. To reheat, place in microwave and reheat for just a few seconds.

  • I like to use baguettes from a grocery store bakery! I find that French baguettes work best, but you can really use any French bread, ciabatta, or Italian bread.

  • To get broccoli "sprinkles" for this garlic bread, grate 5-6 broccoli florets using a box grater, with the fine side. Alternatively, you can place cooked broccoli (steamed, roasted, etc.) in a food processor and pulse a few times until broccoli forms a rice-like texture.

  • Cook times will vary by air fryer, but you should be around 4-5 minutes on average. Just keep an eye on the cheese until it's nice and melty - depending on your preference, you can wait until it's slightly golden if you like it crispier!
