pumpkin spice monster smoothie

Last updated: September 2023

Delicious pumpkin spice and fall flavors in a green smoothie with only 7 ingredients!

This is a favorite Halloween-themed smoothie in our house! The ingredients are simple and tasty, and my toddler loves that I call this a “monster” smoothie - it’s just turned green by a handful of spinach, which also adds some great nutrients here. As with all my smoothie recipes, you can actually freeze this same mixture into popsicles! Just pour into popsicle molds and freeze for at least 6 hours for an easy and fun snack or treat for your kids. Hope you enjoy this fun fall recipe!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 large frozen ripe banana (ripe is key for sweetness!)

  • Big handful of spinach

  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1 cup milk of choice

  • 1/2 tbsp almond butter

  • 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice

  • 1/2 tbsp maple syrup (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  • Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until texture is smooth!

NOTES

  • The banana should be frozen in this recipe to give the smoothie the best texture.

  • Dates or maple syrup will give this smoothie added sweetness. I’d start with 1 tbsp maple syrup OR 1 pitted date in the blender and add from there if needed.

  • You can add a handful of ice (if your blender allows) as well.

  • Maple syrup is optional in this recipe - you can add about 1/2 tbsp to sweeten if needed. If your frozen banana is ripe, it will add the natural sweetness that the smoothie needs.

  • Your milk of choice will work here (whole milk, almond milk, etc.)

  • To thicken up smoothies, you can add Greek yogurt, almond butter, or avocado.

  • The superseed boosters from Tiny Sprouts are a perfect add-in for this recipe! Hemp seeds, flax seeds, or chia seeds add some extra nutrition and can easily be sprinkled in. Code MYTODDLERSKITCHEN gets you 10% off your purchase on their site.

  • This recipe can also be used for homemade popsicles! Just pour the batter into a popsicle mold and freeze for up to 3 months.
