breakfast sundaes

Last updated: September 2023

Sundaes for breakfast? Yep! A super fun, no-cook, and nutritious option for your breakfast rotation.

A sundae but for breakfast?! This is my little one's FAVORITE because he truly feels like he's having ice cream for breakfast and it requires no cooking. An opportunity to include lots of flavor and nutrition in a fun way for an easy breakfast. You can also lay out all the toppings (fruit, sprinkles, nut butter, etc.) and let your kids build their own breakfast sundae. A fun, easy breakfast!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup to 1 cup of whole milk or Greek yogurt (whichever you prefer)

  • Fresh fruit (chopped) like strawberries, bananas, blueberries

  • Drizzle of almond butter (or any nut or seed butter)

  • Sprinkle of milled chia seeds, sprinkles, and cinnamon

  • Honey to sweeten (optional -- avoid if under 1)

DIRECTIONS

  • Combine all ingredients in a small serving bowl, starting first with the yogurt.

  • Add the toppings you have on hand, finishing off with some sprinkles!

OPTIONS FOR MIX-INS / TOPPINGS

  • Nut butter (peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter)

  • Nut-free butter (Granola butter from Oat Haus) or sunflower seed butter

  • Jam (I love the chia jams from Chia Smash)

  • Sprinkles

  • Fresh fruit (berries, banana, peaches, etc. — whatever is in-season!)

  • Superseed boosters from Tiny Sprouts for added nutrition

  • Cinnamon

  • Chocolate chips

NOTES

The toppings you can include here are truly limitless! This is also a fun recipe to make "build your own" if you're entertaining or just want to make breakfast fun for your littles. Let them build their own sundae!
