banana almond butter smoothie

A quick, 5-7 ingredient smoothie with great nutrition and flavor! Versatile, easy, and so delicious.

Banana + Almond Butter in a smoothie are too simple and delicious! You can sub the almond butter here for other nut butters (or granola butter) of choice. This is one of my favorite smoothie recipes for several reasons, but I’ll give you three:

  • They are a great place to include added nutrients like milled chia seeds, hemp seeds, etc. I like to use the superseed boosters from @tinysproutsfoods in all our smoothies. You can also throw in some spinach or kale, and despite turning green, the flavor won’t really change.

  • They’re so versatile. Smoothies can be a part of breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks! I love making these for breakfast along with some toast! 🥑

  • They’re delish and don’t take too much time to put together! I try to freeze fruit whenever I don’t think I’ll use it all up, and I know I’ll use them in smoothies. I make smoothies with just a handful of ingredients and they’re ready in just minutes 👏🏼

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 + 1/2 frozen ripe bananas

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 tbsp almond butter (or nut butter of choice)

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla

  • 1/4 tsp superseed boosters (optional)

  • Handful of kale or spinach (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  • Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until texture is smooth!

NOTES

  • The banana should be frozen in this recipe to give the smoothie the best texture.

  • Your nut butter of choice should work in this recipe! Peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, etc. You can also use a nut-free butter like the granola butter from Oat Haus!

  • Dates or maple syrup will give this smoothie added sweetness. I’d start with 1 tbsp maple syrup OR 1 pitted date in the blender and add from there if needed.

  • You can add a handful of ice (if your blender allows) as well.

  • Your milk of choice will work here (whole milk, almond milk, etc.)

  • To thicken up smoothies, you can add Greek yogurt, almond butter, or avocado.
